A Porirua resident has struck it rich, waking up on Budget Day a lot wealthier then most with their $17.2 million Powerball First Division win in Wednesday night’s live Lotto draw.
The life-changing ticket was purchased at New World Whitby, making the winner the ninth Powerball multimillionaire in New Zealand this year. Their good fortune follows a $23.3 million win by a MyLotto player just one month ago.
Four other lucky players are also celebrating after each securing $200,000 from Lotto’s First Division. Those winning tickets were sold at Hobsonville Superette in Auckland, New World Broadway in Palmerston North, Ballance Street Bookshop in Gisborne, and to an Auckland-based MyLotto player.
The luck continued with five players winning $59,604 each in Lotto’s Second Division. These tickets were purchased at New World Stonefields in Auckland, Woolworths Pukekohe South in South Auckland, Paper Power in Thames, and via MyLotto by players in Northland and Christchurch.
Lotto NZ has urged all players to check their tickets and congratulated the winners.
