Porirua’s own Mila Reuelu-Buchanan stole the spotlight at the Go Media Stars 2025 awards evening, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Karaka, sweeping the top honours following a standout ANZ Premiership season.

The dynamic midcourter, who returned from a serious knee injury in 2024, was celebrated for her commanding comeback. Reuelu-Buchanan received the Stonz Jewellers Player of the Year, Members Choice, and Players’ Player of the Year awards. Her season was marked by 361 feeds and 152 goal assists, placing her second in the league for feeds.

Emerging talent Lili Tokaduadua also earned recognition for her defensive prowess throughout the season. Playing all 10 games, she tallied 27 deflections and 13 intercepts, showcasing the energy and commitment that make her one of the league’s rising stars.

The Matariki Award, which honours players who embody the team’s values daily, was jointly awarded to Lisa Mather and Kate Burley.

In the Synergy Hair National Netball League, the Comets capped off a strong season with several accolades. Jaelin Tulikaki was named Player of the Year, while Teuila Sotutu and Marie Hansen shared the Players’ Player title. Charlie Lindsey received the Emerging Player of the Year award.

Acknowledging the importance of community support, long-time volunteer Wiremu Te Rongomau was honoured as Volunteer of the Year. Known for his welcoming presence at game day entry points, Te Rongomau has been a mainstay of the Stars family since the team’s formation.

The evening was a celebration of resilience, talent, and community spirit, with Reuelu-Buchanan’s achievements leading the way.
