Wellington Police are calling for public assistance after a shotgun was discharged at a residential complex on Brooklyn Road on Sunday afternoon.
Officers were called to the scene around 3.30pm on 2 November. While no one was struck by the firearm, one person sustained moderate injuries while fleeing to safety.
Detective Senior Sergeant Lee Underhill said the incident appears to have targeted a specific individual.
“It is concerning that an offender has discharged a firearm in a highly populated apartment building and we are aggressively pursuing every lead in order to locate the offender,” Underhill said.
“This is appalling violence that put a number of people at risk and could have had a very different outcome.”
Police say they are increasing their presence in the area to reassure the community and assist with the investigation.
“I recognise that the offending will be unsettling for the complex and nearby residents,” Underhill said. “There will be members of the public who saw the offender or know who they are.”
