Waka Kotahi is advising motorists in Porirua and surrounding areas to plan ahead, with extensive roadworks scheduled across State Highways 1, 58, and 59 from 6 to 12 December.
Transmission Gully (SH1)
While a planned weekend closure has been cancelled, lane closures remain in place. Northbound lanes will be affected from Rainbow Bridge to Battle Hill and through Waitangirua, operating day and night. Southbound closures run from Battle Hill to Rainbow Bridge, including Waitangirua on Tuesday between 9am and 5pm.
Porirua to Hutt Valley (SH58)
Drivers on SH58 through Judgeford and Moonshine Road can expect stop/go controls nightly from Monday to Friday, 7pm to 5:30am. Altered lane layouts remain in place through to Transmission Gully.
Porirua to Kāpiti (SH59)
Northbound lanes between Paekākāriki and Mackays Interchange will be closed from 6am Monday to 6pm Friday for weighbridge works. Additional closures include:
- Paekākāriki Coast Road: Stop/go controls Sunday and Thursday nights, and daytime rock scaling work midweek.
- Plimmerton: Night closures and lane reductions for testing and streetlight maintenance.
- Mungavin: Northbound on-ramp closed briefly Monday night for sensor installations.
