Drivers travelling through Porirua can expect lane changes and stop-go traffic controls on nearby state highways during the week of March 7 to 13.
The works are scheduled by the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi Wellington Transport Alliance and are weather dependent.
Key disruptions this week include lane changes on State Highway 58 near Pāuatahanui and stop-go traffic controls on State Highway 59 near Pukerua Bay.
Works continue on SH58 near Pāuatahanui as part of the ongoing safety improvements project. An altered lane layout will remain in place around the Pāuatahanui Bridge.
Work is scheduled during the day from 7am to 5pm on Saturdays and weekdays, and overnight Sunday to Thursday from 7pm to 5.30am. Pedestrians using nearby paths may also face short stop-and-hold periods during peak school travel times while bridge and shared path work continues.
On SH59 near Pukerua Bay, weekday stop-go traffic controls will be in place between Beach Road and Paekākāriki Link Road from 9.30am to 3.30pm for watermain upgrade work.
Night works are also planned between Sunday and Thursday from 7pm to 6am while crews carry out drainage and barrier renewals.
Further north, the northbound on-ramp at Paekākāriki connecting SH59 to State Highway 1 will be closed from 11pm Sunday through to Friday night while crews complete weigh bridge upgrade works.
Motorists travelling through the wider Wellington region may also encounter additional lane changes on SH1 near Paekākāriki as part of the same project.
NZTA advises drivers to allow extra travel time and follow traffic management instructions through worksites.
