Drivers travelling through Porirua and along key state highways toward Kāpiti and the Hutt Valley are being advised to expect delays next week as several roadwork projects take place from March 14 to March 20.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi says the work is weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions change.

On State Highway 59 between Porirua and Kāpiti, multiple sites will have traffic management in place.

At Paekākāriki, between Beach Road and Paekākāriki Link Road, an altered lane layout will operate from 9am Monday to 5pm Friday for weigh bridge upgrade works. Stop-go traffic controls will also be in place from 9am Monday to 4pm Friday.

Separate stop-go controls are scheduled Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 3:30pm for a watermain upgrade.

In Pukerua Bay, near the southern end of Coast Road, stop-hold traffic controls may be used from 7pm to 6am Sunday to Thursday when trucks enter the landfill.

Further south at Plimmerton, between the roundabout and the weigh station, stop-hold controls may also operate Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7pm to 5:30am for landfill truck movements.

Work is also planned on State Highway 1 through Transmission Gully.

At Battle Hill, a southbound lane closure is scheduled Tuesday between 9am and 8pm for chipsealing.

The Waitangirua northbound off-ramp will be closed Tuesday from 6am to 5pm while chipsealing takes place.

Additional northbound lane closures are scheduled Tuesday from 4am to 7pm, with further work continuing day and night from 7pm Tuesday until 7pm Thursday.

The Waitangirua southbound on-ramp will be closed Wednesday between 6am and 5pm, with southbound lane closures also scheduled Wednesday from 4am to 7pm and continuing overnight until 7am Friday.

Meanwhile on State Highway 58 between Porirua and the Hutt Valley, safety upgrade works continue near Judgeford between Moonshine Road and Flighty’s Road.

Stop-go traffic controls will be in place Sunday night from 7pm to 5:30am, and an altered lane layout remains in place day and night throughout the week.

At the Pāuatahanui Bridge, west of the Pāuatahanui roundabout, stop-and-hold controls will operate Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm during peak school times to allow pedestrians to cross safely while bridge and pathway works continue.

NZTA is encouraging motorists to allow extra travel time and take care when driving through work zones.
