Porirua residents travelling by train on Labour Day will need to use replacement buses, with the entire Kāpiti Line closed on Monday 26 October.
The closure affects services between Wellington and Waikanae, including Tawa, Kenepuru, Porirua, Paremata, Mana, Plimmerton and Pukerua Bay.
The line has been closed throughout Labour Weekend while KiwiRail undertakes railway maintenance and infrastructure improvements.
Metlink says replacement buses will operate to Sunday timetables on Monday, with normal train services scheduled to resume on Tuesday 27 October.
Passengers should allow extra travelling time and check their replacement bus stops, which are not always at railway station entrances.
At Porirua Station, replacement buses will use the Park and Ride area. Paremata passengers will use the station bus stop, while Mana passengers will board on Dolly Varden Crescent.
At Kenepuru, replacement buses stop on Kenepuru Drive near Ambulance Drive.
Pukerua Bay passengers face a longer walk, with replacement bus stops on State Highway 1 near Takutai Road and Pukerua Beach Road.
At Wellington Railway Station, replacement buses use Platform 10. Passengers should tag on and off onboard the bus.
Off-peak fares apply throughout Labour Weekend, and SuperGold cardholders can travel free all day Monday.
Regular bus services will also operate to Sunday timetables.
Passengers can check replacement bus departure times and stop locations on the Metlink Kāpiti Line page or call 0800 801 700.
