Porirua residents have until 7pm tonight, Saturday 7 November, to cast their vote in the 2026 General Election.

The city’s general-electorate map has changed for this election. Kenepuru includes central Porirua, Tītahi Bay and eastern suburbs as far as Papakōwhai. Kāpiti includes areas around Whitby, Pāuatahanui and Pukerua Bay. An official address lookup shows residents their general and Māori electorates.

Voters do not have to find a voting place inside their own electorate. They can vote at any voting place in New Zealand, with the Electoral Commission’s finder showing locations and accessibility information. Select Saturday 7 November on the map and check the location before leaving.

People should bring their EasyVote card if they have it, but a missing card does not prevent them voting. Identification is not required.

The enrolment deadline was midnight on Sunday 25 October. Residents already enrolled at an old address can still vote, although a special vote may be needed. Voting-place staff can help with questions, or residents can call 0800 36 76 56.

Anyone who needs help reading or marking their voting paper can ask a friend, family member or electoral official. A support person can assist but cannot choose how the person votes.

Election-day restrictions remain in force until 7pm. Online posts and shares must not be likely or intended to influence someone’s party or candidate vote.

After voting closes, preliminary results will be released through electionresults.govt.nz. Those totals will exclude special votes, including votes cast overseas, so they may change before the official results are declared on Friday 27 November.
