Campaign Statement
I’m James Cootes and have lived in Ōtaki for the past 20 years. I have a lovely wife and two kids aged 2 and 5. We run our own business in Ōtaki employing around 25 staff and I’ve been on the Ōtaki Community Board for the last 3 years. In that time I have enjoyed the challenges and triumphs we have had representing our community.
I’m passionate about our town and committed to representing our community at council working for sensible outcomes. If I’m re-elected I will continue to advocate on behalf of our community for a SH1 roading network that complements our community not damages it, a vibrant business community that provides employment to Ōtaki and most of all I am excited about the Centre of Excellence and the possibility of going “off grid”.
I believe Ōtaki has great potential and I want to be able to make a difference.
