Lifelong Porirua resident.
Have been chair of Council’s major committee for the last 6 years while supporting the Mayor in representing Porirua on the Wellington Water and Regional Transport Committees.
Extensive background in infrastructure and am an experienced and balanced voice at council table. I am independent and bring no party politics.
Get on well with people and understand the benefits of working together to achieve things for us all – without being afraid to speak out when needed.
Have stayed focused on priorities around council’s essential services.
Been instrumental in ensuring more desperately needed investment in our water infrastructure.
This has impacted rates – but we are now seeing benefits like:
Building of new wastewater tank – operational early 2026 – preventing 40,000 cubic meters of waste-water overflows into the harbour each year – larger network of waste-water tanks planned for future.
A significant reduction in water leaks – now have the lowest average water usage in the region.
An ongoing riparian restoration programme with over 400,000 plants in the ground supported by great community involvement.
My priorities for the next 3 years would be:
Making sure ratepayers get value and transparency moving to a new regional water entity in 2026.
To see major review of council’s remaining services after water goes – driving efficiency, reducing unnecessary spending and controlling rates. Ratepayers must have a say in this.
Continuing to champion quality roads, footpaths and ongoing maintenance of open spaces.
Advocating for ongoing harbour restoration and planting programmes – seeking ongoing co-operation with any groups that can contribute.
Pushing for investment that supports job creation and a local economy that attracts more business.
Finally, I would be proud to serve again as one of your local councillors in this special city. I am asking for your support – vote me #1.
