Police lifted cordons in Newtown on Wednesday evening after responding to reports of a suspicious item on Riddiford Street, near the intersection with Constable Street.

The incident prompted a temporary lockdown at Moon Pizza Music and Beer Bar, where staff and patrons were kept inside for around 30 minutes. The bar has since reopened.

Manager Leroy Paton-Goldsbury confirmed the brief lockdown and said operations quickly returned to normal once police cleared the area.

Police removed the item and confirmed it would be destroyed.
