State Highway Disruptions to Impact Porirua Drivers This Week

Roadworkers under Wellington Transport Alliance on SH58 near Whitby with traffic cones and machinery at night.
Lane closures and detours along SH58, SH59, and Transmission Gully expected to cause delays for Porirua commuters this week.

Porirua residents are urged to plan ahead as roadworks across State Highways 58 and 59, and Transmission Gully are set to cause delays between 28 November and 5 December.

On State Highway 59, the northbound lane between Paekākāriki and Mackays Interchange will be closed from Monday to Thursday, 6am to 6pm, for weighbridge work. A detour is in place via the Kāpiti Expressway. On Wednesday night, stop/go traffic management will occur for sign renewal, while Titahi Bay’s southbound off-ramp will close from 11.59pm to 4am for streetlight pole work.

State Highway 58 will see further disruption with ongoing lane layout changes from Judgeford to Transmission Gully. Stop/go controls will be in place nightly from Sunday to Thursday between Moonshine Road and Flighty’s Road. Spinnaker Drive’s sideroad in Whitby remains closed due to a slip, closing SH58 turn lanes. In Paremata, the southbound slip lane to SH59 will shut on Tuesday night for streetlight replacements, with detours via the main roundabout.

Transmission Gully’s northbound and southbound lanes will face alternating closures for summer maintenance, including a full southbound closure from Paekākāriki to Linden from Friday 10am to Monday 4.30am.

Drivers are advised to check live updates before travelling and allow extra time for detours.
