Drivers are warned to expect lane closures at Waitangirua in the motorway’s north and southbound lanes until Friday 6 March, weather permitting.
Work crews will be working on the motorway’s southbound shoulder, finishing up drainage repairs on a 70-metre stretch of the road between Monday 2 March, and Wednesday, 4 March 24/7.
Excavations are needed and heavy machinery will be used – so, a lane closure and a 50 km/h temporary speed limit will be in place 24/7 for southbound traffic until this work is finished.
Due to weather delays, the northbound onramp at Waitangirua will continue to be closed this weekend. The onramp will reopen Monday, 2 March morning at 7 am, weather permitting.
Works in the northbound lanes at Waitangirua continue to complete the pavement reconstruction works here. It is expected all northbound lanes will be open by Friday, 6 March, weather permitting.
Drivers are asked to follow all traffic management in place. This is to keep workers and the public safe. Short travel delays can be expected. Consider State Highway 59 during peak travel times.
In the coming weeks, there will also be further chipseal works in north and southbound lanes. This will be done once pavement reconstruction works are complete at Waitangirua. More details will be provided soon.
