An 18-year-old man has been charged after a woman was found critically injured at Willowbank Reserve in Tawa.
Police received a report about 3pm on Tuesday, 15 September, and the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Officers located an 18-year-old man a short time later. He was arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and appeared in the Porirua District Court on Wednesday.
Police said the assault was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing risk to the public.
They are asking anyone who saw a young man in Willowbank Reserve or nearby between 2pm and 3.15pm on Tuesday to come forward.
Police said the man was wearing a hoodie, trackpants and black shoes.
