Burger lovers in Porirua are in for a treat this evening as McDonald’s brings its Big Arch Tour to town, offering locals a chance to score one of the chain’s newest and biggest burgers, for free.
The Big Arch, now available on menus nationwide, features a hefty half-pound of beef, three layers of cheddar cheese, and crispy onions, delivering what McDonald’s describes as “a truckload of flavour.”
To celebrate the launch, McDonald’s is touring the North Island with a giant burger truck, giving away 500 Big Arch burgers to people who snap a photo of the truck and share it on Instagram or Facebook tagging @mcdonaldsnz.
Porirua locals will have their chance tonight, with the Big Arch truck scheduled to stop at the McDonald’s Porirua restaurant from 6.35pm to 7.05pm.
McDonald’s New Zealand Managing Director Kylie Freeland said the burger is made for those who are seriously hungry.
“The Big Arch is hearty, delicious and packed with everything Kiwis love about a classic Macca’s burger,” Freeland said. “We’re marking its launch in true Macca’s style by taking it on the road and sharing it with communities across the country.”
Earlier stops today included Napier, Havelock North, Masterton and Upper Hutt, with the tour set to wrap up in Hamilton on Sunday.
The Big Arch joins McDonald’s menu nearly 50 years after the company opened its first New Zealand restaurant, right here in Porirua in 1976. Now, the company operates more than 170 locations across the country and employs over 11,000 people.
