Police are appealing for information after a three-month-old baby girl was admitted to hospital in the Hutt Valley with multiple serious injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Wescott said Police were notified on 14 June after the baby was brought to hospital by her family with a broken arm. The injury raised concern due to the baby’s age.
Hospital staff conducted further examinations, which revealed several additional fractures throughout the baby’s upper and lower body.
Police are investigating the cause of the injuries and believe they were not the result of an accident.
“There will be people who know how the baby girl sustained such serious injuries,” Wescott said. “We are urging them or anyone else with information to do the right thing and come forward.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police or make an anonymous report through Crime Stoppers.
