Update: Man in Custody After Stokes Valley Incident Leaves One Critically Injured

A man has been taken into custody and is assisting Police with enquiries following a serious incident in Stokes Valley this morning that left one person critically injured.

Detective Inspector Haley Ryan confirmed that Police executed multiple search warrants in the area earlier today and will maintain a visible presence in Stokes Valley as the investigation continues.

The victim remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Wellington Hospital.

Police are continuing to seek the public’s assistance, particularly from those who may have been in or around Sladden Street in Naenae or Poole Street in Taita.

“We’d like to hear from anybody in or around those areas who may have CCTV or dashcam footage,” said Detective Inspector Ryan.

Residents near Hanson Grove and along the main arterial routes of Stokes Valley are also urged to check for any footage that may help the investigation.
