Police Release Name in Porirua Death Investigation

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man following an alleged firearm assault on Dido Place in Cannons Creek on 20 February. One person was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Police have confirmed the identity of a man who died following an assault in Elsdon, Porirua, as 43-year-old Sean Remnant of Tītahi Bay. Sean passed away in hospital earlier this week from critical injuries sustained in the assault on Kotuku Street.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Middlemiss, Kāpiti-Mana Area Investigations Manager, says, “Police remain focused on determining what occurred prior to Sean’s death and understanding the cause of his injuries.”

Sean was reportedly a guest at the address where the incident occurred and was known to the occupants. Police extend their condolences to Sean’s family and have committed to keeping them informed as the investigation progresses.
