Mana College triumphed at the U17 Women’s Wellington Inter-College Champs, held at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre, securing the top spot in a showcase of youth handball talent from across the region.
The tournament, supported by the New Zealand Handball Federation and the Goethe-Institut, brought together several secondary schools, including Queen Margaret College and St George’s College, in a spirited day of competition.
Porirua Mayor Anita Baker acknowledged Mana College’s achievement, offering public congratulations via social media following the team’s win. Her message underscored the pride and support felt across the Porirua community.
The event not only celebrated athletic excellence but also fostered greater recognition of handball as a growing sport among young people in Aotearoa.
