Porirua honours community heroes at 2025 Civic Awards

Porirua City celebrated its 2025 Civic Award recipients with a moving ceremony recognising residents who have gone above and beyond in their voluntary service to the community.

Mayor Anita Baker congratulated the awardees on Monday, thanking them for their tireless efforts to make Porirua a better, more connected place. “We’re so grateful for the incredible volunteer work you do,” said Baker. “Your passion and dedication inspire us all.”

The event was made even more special with a powerful performance from the Aotea College Kapa Haka Group, whose waiata and haka brought warmth and mana to the occasion.

This year’s Civic Award recipients are:

  • Jackie Adams
  • Jill Dalton
  • Matuavao Pusa Finau
  • Sharon Gibson
  • Murray Gillon
  • Daniel Heath
  • Jim Hepburn
