
Nominations have officially closed for the 2025 Porirua City Council elections, with 31 candidates confirmed across the mayoralty, general wards, and the Māori ward. Voters will also elect representatives to the Greater Wellington Regional Council’s Porirua-Tawa constituency, where five candidates are contesting two seats.
The mayoralty race sees three contenders, including incumbent Anita Baker. The Onepoto General Ward draws the largest field, with 16 candidates vying for five seats. Pāuatahanui voters will choose four councillors from eight candidates, and the Parirua Māori Ward sees four hopefuls competing for a single seat.
