Porirua’s chocolate lovers are in for a treat as ChoctoberFest returns on 20 September, with 32 local businesses serving up creations featuring Whittaker’s chocolate.
Now in its fourth year, the festival has been brought forward to coincide with school holidays, giving families from across the region more time to enjoy Porirua’s hospitality scene. Running until 19 October, the event includes the Whittaker’s Bake Off from 20 September to 5 October and the Top of the Chocs drinks competition through to 19 October.

Whittaker’s Chief Executive James Ardern said the festival was a chance to celebrate the company’s close connection to Porirua. “We’re delighted to be a part of it again and seeing the wonderful creations Porirua businesses come up with,” he said. “The Porirua community is an essential ingredient in Whittaker’s story, so we hope you will join us to celebrate that.”

Offerings this year include hot and cold drinks, imaginative bakes, vegan and gluten-free options, and even cocktails. Visitors can vote for their favourite creations online to help crown the winners.
Prizes are also up for grabs, including exclusive Whittaker’s experiences, 100 Peanut Slabs, and ChoctoberFest café vouchers through online voting, reviews, and social media engagement.
