Porirua’s senior community came together at Te Rauparaha Arena for a heart-warming Over 70s Christmas Luncheon, with 180 guests treated to delicious food, music and festive hospitality thanks to the efforts of local volunteers, businesses, and civic leaders.
The annual event, supported by New World Porirua City and organised by Wayne Bruce, Roger Watkins and Martin Duncan, is a much-loved celebration on the city’s calendar. This year’s luncheon was catered by Sushil’s Musclechef Kitchen & Café, with support from a strong network of sponsors and community groups.

“It was such a privilege to be part of this beautiful event again,” said Porirua Mayor Anita Baker. “The smiles on everyone’s faces show just how much these moments matter. Porirua is incredibly lucky to have so many generous people willing to give their time and support.”
The meal concluded with Christmas cake, handed out by Deputy Mayor Kylie Wihapi, leaving guests with full bellies and festive cheer to take home.

A special thanks goes to all the sponsors who made the day possible: Sushil’s Musclechef Kitchen & Café, New World Porirua City, Little City Kombucha, Bunnings Warehouse Porirua, Clark & Co Realty, Quinovic Porirua, and Trust Porirua City Brass for providing the live music.
