Young athletes from Titahi Bay delivered an impressive set of performances at a Pre-Colgate Games mini meet held at Newtown Park Stadium in Wellington, finishing among the top competitors across a wide range of events.
The meet, organised by the Lower Hutt Amateur Athletics Club and staged at Newtown Park Stadium, attracted more than 100 athletes from clubs across the region as juniors continued their build-up toward the national Colgate Games later this summer.
Athletes representing Titahi Bay Athletics Club competed in sprints, middle-distance races, hurdles, relays, jumps and throws, with the club featuring prominently on the podium throughout the day.
Strong results were recorded across multiple age groups, reflecting the depth of talent within the Porirua-based club and the importance of regional competition in developing young athletes’ confidence and race experience.

Parents and supporters watched from the stands as the meet unfolded in warm summer conditions, with organisers thanking volunteers and officials for helping deliver a smooth and welcoming event.
The Colgate Games are one of New Zealand’s longest-running junior sporting competitions, and pre-meet events such as this play a key role in preparing athletes for higher-level racing later in the season.
