Porirua manu specialists are being called up as the Z Manu World Champs bring a Wellington Super Qualifier to the region later this month.

The one-day qualifier will be held on Saturday, January 31, at the Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre, with competitors vying for a spot at the national grand final in Auckland.

The event celebrates the classic Kiwi manu, a dive-bombing tradition honed at pools, wharves and swimming holes across Aotearoa. Organisers say the Wellington qualifier will showcase the best local talent while welcoming first-timers keen to give it a go.

Divisions are available for kids aged 8 to 12, youth aged 13 to 17, and adults, with entry starting from $10. The event runs for about an hour and includes giveaways and a free Push Play session focused on fun, safe participation.

Top performers from Wellington will progress to the Z Manu World Champs grand final in Auckland on Saturday, March 14, 2026, where national champions will be crowned.
