Armed police remain in Cannons Creek after an early morning assault that forced nearby schools into lockdown.
Officers were called to Dido Place about 7.40am on Friday following reports of an assault, according to Kāpiti-Mana Area Commander Inspector Renée Perkins.
One person suffered moderate injuries. Police have not released further details about the victim.
Several schools in the area were placed into lockdown as officers secured the scene. The lockdowns were later lifted once police were satisfied there was no ongoing risk to students or staff.
“A number of police staff remain at the scene and some are armed as a precaution,” Perkins said.
An investigation into the incident is under way. Police have not confirmed whether anyone has been arrested.
Residents in Cannons Creek reported seeing armed officers and police vehicles in the area during the morning commute.

Cannons Creek shooting leaves one injured
Police are appealing for information after a person was injured in a firearm incident in Cannons Creek this morning.
Emergency services were called to Dido Place about 7.40am following reports that a firearm had been discharged.
One person suffered moderate injuries and is now in a stable condition in hospital.
Kāpiti Mana Area Commander Inspector Renée Perkins said police are continuing to investigate and residents can expect to see an ongoing presence in the area.
“There is not believed to be any risk to the wider public following this incident,” Perkins said.
Police are asking to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in and around Dido Place and nearby streets at the time.
