Thousands of rangatahi and job seekers packed Te Rauparaha Arena on Tuesday 13 May for the Porirua Careers Expo 2025 — a vibrant one-day event designed to inspire career exploration and open doors to future employment.

The free expo featured more than 80 stalls, offering insights into careers in technology, healthcare, construction, the trades, and more. Attendees had the chance to meet industry professionals and education providers, sharpen their CVs and interview skills, and learn about a wide range of opportunities.

“This event is all about empowering our young people and community members to take the next step in their career journey,” said Porirua Mayor Anita Baker. “It’s fantastic to see so many schools, organisations and individuals come together in one space to support the future of our city.”

Students from across the region attended, including those from Te Kura Māori o Porirua, Bishop Viard College, Tawa College, Porirua College, Mana College, Whitby Collegiate, and Aotea College.
Eight lucky attendees each walked away with a $500 Prezzy Card, thanks to generous sponsorship from Tranquil IT. Free food and giveaways added to the energetic, positive atmosphere throughout the day.

The event was made possible by the support of sponsors including the Ministry of Social Development NZ, Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira, NZCT, Pelorus Trust, Partners Porirua, Le Fale Job and Skills Hub, TechStep, Tranquil, New World Porirua and Whitby, and the Ministry of Education NZ.
Whether just starting out or looking for a new direction, the Porirua Careers Expo offered something for everyone — and sparked inspiration for futures yet to come.
