The Porirua News Business Directory has reached a major milestone with over 150 local businesses now featured, marking a significant achievement in its mission to connect residents with trusted services and local providers.
Launched on 6 May 2025 with just 36 listings, the directory has quickly become a central hub for Porirua residents seeking reliable trades, eateries, real estate agents, childcare centres, wellness providers, and more. Recent waves of sign-ups have included everything from landscaping services and photography studios to mortgage advisers and medical specialists.
“This is about bringing our business community closer to the people they serve,” said the Porirua News editorial team in a statement. “From trusted tradies to tasty local eats, the directory makes it simple to find what you need — right here at home.”
The growth has been steady and impressive. By late June, the directory had surpassed 100 featured businesses. July alone welcomed 24 new additions, including Janine Nane Acupuncture, Palmers Plimmerton, Brinkel’s Cake Art, and VanMan. Another nine businesses, such as Civic Waste and Freedom Drivers, were welcomed in late July, pushing the directory past the 150 mark.
The success is attributed in part to its affordability and visibility. Listings cost just $199+GST per year — a steep discount from the standard $520+GST — and appear prominently across PoriruaNews.co.nz, ensuring maximum exposure.
For locals, the directory offers a reliable, searchable way to shop and hire close to home. For business owners, it’s a unique opportunity to be featured in a community-trusted platform.
