Porirua’s voter turnout is surging, but with the clock ticking down to the 2025 local election deadline, officials are issuing a clear warning: do not post your voting papers.
With just days remaining until voting closes at noon on Saturday, 11 October, any ballots sent by mail now run the risk of arriving too late to be counted. Instead, residents are being urged to hand-deliver their voting papers to one of the city’s official ballot drop-off locations to ensure their voice is heard.
There are more than 20 ballot boxes across Porirua, including supermarkets, libraries, council buildings, and community centres. Below is the full list of places where you can safely drop off your vote:

Porirua is currently tracking toward a record voter turnout, with nearly 25 percent of ballots already returned, well ahead of previous election years at the same point. In 2022, nearly half of all votes were cast in the final three days, showing just how important this final stretch can be.
Don’t leave your vote to chance. Hand-deliver your ballot and make sure your voice is counted in shaping Porirua’s future.
