Porirua City Brass is performing alongside young local musicians this week, giving members of the Porirua Youth Band a chance to play in front of the community in the lead-up to Christmas.
The joint performances are taking place outside The Warehouse over several days, with youth players sharing the stage with senior band members during busy shopping hours.
The appearances give young musicians valuable experience performing in a public setting, helping them build confidence while sharing their love of music with shoppers and passersby.
Band representatives say playing alongside experienced performers strengthens the youth players’ skills and encourages them to continue their musical journey.
Donations are welcomed during the performances, with proceeds supporting the upkeep of the band rooms and helping fund music opportunities for young people in Porirua.
Residents are encouraged to stop, listen, and support the next generation of local musicians as they perform together in the days leading up to Christmas.
