Motorists travelling through Porirua, Wellington and Kāpiti face another week of roadworks, with lane closures and stop go controls in place across several state highways from February 21 to 27.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi says works are weather dependent and may be postponed.
On State Highway 1 Transmission Gully, the Waitangirua northbound on ramp will be closed 24 hours a day from 5am Monday, February 23, reopening by 8pm Friday, February 27. The closure is for pavement reconstruction works.
Northbound traffic near Waitangirua will also be affected by paving works. The fast lane is closed day and night until 5am Sunday, while the slow lane will be closed from 7pm Sunday through to Friday.
The Minister of Transport has confirmed the permanent speed limit on Transmission Gully increased to 110kmh from 12.01am Monday, February 16. Temporary speed limits remain in place in both directions around Waitangirua while works continue.
Further north on SH1 at Manakau Bridge, opposite Tatum Park, drivers can expect an altered lane layout between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, for O2NL works.
Near North Manakau Road, stop go traffic controls will be in place Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7pm to 5.30am for chipsealing and line marking. A lane closure is also scheduled Wednesday and Thursday, 4am to 5pm, for chipseal works.
In Wellington, a northbound lane closure is planned between the Newlands on ramp and Johnsonville off ramp on Monday night from 9pm to 4am for drainage maintenance.
On State Highway 59 between Porirua and Kāpiti, stop go controls will operate in Paekākāriki between Beach Road and Paekākāriki Link Road from 9.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, for a watermain upgrade.
Additional stop go controls are planned Wednesday night, 7pm to 5am, between Beach Road and south of Fishermans Table for streetlight pole replacement.
In Plimmerton, a northbound lane closure is scheduled Sunday and Tuesday nights, 7pm to 5am, between Acheron Road and the Plimmerton roundabout for streetlight works.
On State Highway 58, an altered lane layout remains in place day and night between Moonshine Road and Flightys Road in Judgeford as part of the SH58 safety improvements project.
The shoulder is also closed on SH58 at Pāuatahanui Bridge, west of the Pāuatahanui roundabout, Monday to Friday, for enabling works linked to a clip on footbridge and shared paths.
Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, follow temporary speed limits and check the NZTA Wellington traffic updates page before heading out.
