Council Christmas hours set for libraries, pools and rubbish collection

Festive season opening hours have been confirmed for Porirua libraries, council services and facilities over Christmas and New Year.

Porirua libraries and council services will operate on reduced hours over the Christmas and New Year period, with most facilities closing from Christmas Day and reopening in early January.

Porirua City Centre Library will be open on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, from 9.30am to 1pm, before closing from December 25 through Sunday, January 4. Normal hours resume on Monday, January 5.

Titahi Bay Library will also open briefly on Christmas Eve, from 10am to 1pm, then close until January 5.

Cannons Creek, Whitby and Pukerua Bay libraries will be closed from Wednesday, December 24. Cannons Creek and Whitby libraries reopen on Monday, January 5, while Pukerua Bay Library reopens on Tuesday, January 6.

Porirua City Council’s administration building and animal control centre will be open on Christmas Eve from 8am to 1pm. The administration building will remain closed until January 5, while animal control reopens for limited hours from December 29 to 31 before closing again on January 1 and 2.

Arena Aquatics and Arena Fitness will close on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, reopen with reduced hours between December 27 and 31, then close again on January 1 and 2. Normal hours resume January 5. Cannons Creek Pool will close from December 25 to January 2, with limited hours on January 3 and 4.

Pātaka Art + Museum will be open on Christmas Eve from 10am to 1pm, then closed until January 5.

Kerbside rubbish and recycling collections will run as normal, except for Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, when collections will take place on Saturday, December 27.

Spicer Landfill and the bulk recycling station will close on Christmas Day, with varied hours through to January 4. Te Rauparaha Arena Stadium will be closed for maintenance from December 22 to January 4.
