Porirua Little Theatre presents: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Porirua Little Theatre are performing The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Porirua Little Theatre are presenting the comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, July 2-11.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is billed as a hilarious take on the high-octane pressure of competitive spelling.

The show is directed by Rob Ormsby, with Musical Director MC Peters, and Choreography by Nea Warmouth.

The story – Six “tween-agers” battle it out for the glorious title of champion or perhaps a consolation juice box. Each with their own worries and pressures, they seek comfort amongst the complexities of perfectly arranged letters.

With its rapid-fire witty script and spellbinding music, “The Bee” hums out a beautiful coming-of-age story with more meaning than the word run.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a musical comedy and winner of 7 awards for its off-Broadway production and nominated for six Tony Awards, (winning two, including Best Book)

The Bee also invites selected audience members to take part in the spelling competition creating totally unpredictable, one show only, performances.

Run time: 2 hours plus 20 min intermission

Contains sexual references, moments of bright lighting and haze effects
